THE GOVT IS YOURS: IFCD MINISTER TO PEOPLE

IMPHAL, April 29 (DIPR): “Every action of the government is your business and every single penny spent by the government is your money. The government belongs to the people,” IFCD and YAS Minister Shri Letpao Haokip said while also urging the people not to hesitate to take their grievances to the government.

The Minister was addressing a gathering of village chiefs and public during the first assembly of  Kuki Chiefs’ Association (KCA), Chandel held today at M. Munpi village in Chandel district.

Shri Letpao Haokip said that development will not take place unless the people think that the government is theirs and it truly belongs to them. Saying that petty issues like clannish interest or clan-centric issues are responsible for retardation of overall development, the Minister stressed the need to do away with such narrow interests.

He said that development will automatically happen at a fast pace when people cultivate positive thinking. Shri Letpao Haokip also appealed to all concerned to contribute their might to bring peace, harmony and overall development in 41-Chandel AC and to make the AC an exemplary constituency.

He further assured that all welfare schemes reach the targeted beneficiaries. Letpao also sought the cooperation of the district administration in streamlining various projects and schemes implemented in the district.

Various village chiefs’ associations of the area and leaders of Kuki Women Human Rights, Chandel presented the Minister with gifts and memorandum.

          Deputy Commissioner of Chandel district Shri Krishna Kumar and various District Level Officers besides Engineers of PHED and IFCD including Chief Engineer (IFCD) Ksh. Pritam Singh also attended the programme. About 70 village chiefs attended the programme.

          The Minister and his entourage were accorded rousing welcomes at Langching, Sugnu Zou veng, Sugnu Tribal enruote to the meeting venue. (DIPR)
