TAKE STATE'S UNIQUE CULTURE TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD: MANIPUR GOVERNOR

Imphal, August 29th, 2017 (DIPR): Manipur Governor Dr. Najma A Heptulla today praised the rich tradition and culture of the State and said "I love Manipur. There is so much of dance and music here. That's life."

          The Governor was addressing the Sakalp Parva "Sankalp se Siddhi" function organised by the Song and Drama Division, Imphal Centre, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The function, based on the New India Movement, was held at the Raj Bhawan, Imphal.

          Governor Dr Heptulla observed that dance and music is still very much active in Manipur and other parts of the North East.

          Explaining the need to showcase the State's rich art and culture to the rest of the country, the Governor said we need to show what wealth we have in our culture and dance to the outside world. She further encouraged and suggested the artistes of the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy and the Manipur University of Culture to perform more frequently outside the State.

          The Governor said that Sankalp Parva is such an important function as it is being heralded as 360 degree programme to make India modern by 2022.

She said Sankalp Parva is an initiative under the 'Sankalp Se Siddhi' movement which is the dream of the Prime Minister for reforming the nation under the "New India Movement by making – poverty, filth, corruption, terrorism, communalism and casteism Quit India."

Today's youth should understand what price our forefathers' had paid in achieving freedom of India, the Governor said.

          Lauding an artiste who performed the song "Ae mere watan ke logon" during today's function, the Governor said she became nostalgic during the rendition of the song. She expressed that she was reminded of the time when renowned singer Lata Mageskar performed the same song at National Club, New Delhi in the presence of the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru, during which she herself was present as a child.

          Arts and Culture Minister Shri L. Jayentakumar said the reasons for establishment of a culture university and Manipur State Film and Telveision Institute in the State is the unique cultural identity of Manipur despite its limited size and resources.

          He also said that Manipur needs helping hands from the Union Ministry of Finance in order to exploit the talents of our youths.

          During the function, the Governor along with the other dignitaries and the participants pledged for building a New India- clean, free from poverty, corruption, terrorism, communalism and casteism.

          As part of the function, artistes of the Song and Drama Division, Imphal Centre performed several cultural items including a group song Vande Mantaram, Lai-haraoba, Cheirol Jagoi, Lavani Dance and Dhol Chollom. (DIPR)

MINISTERIAL TEAM INSPECTED HEIROK CHC; FEEL PROUD FOR PERFORMING THE BEST : L.JAYANTAKUMAR

Imphal, August 28th , 2017 (DIPR): A ministerial team led by Health & Family Welfare Minister Shri L.Jayantakumar Singh inspected Heirok Community Health Centre today.       

The ministerial team comprising OF Health & Family Welfare Minister  L.Jayantakumar Singh, Education Minister Th.Radheshyam Singh, Parliamentary Secretary(H&FW) S.Subhaschandra Singh, DC Thoubal, Additional Director( Health) Dr. Manikanta Singh and other medical staff  met and interact with the Doctors and staff of Heirok CHC.. In the meeting , The Health Minister assured that steps will be taken up to provide all the basic necessities including infrastructures.

Expressing his deep diasatisfaction regarding the new CHC building which is under construction , the Minister said that the concerned Department will be called up and necessary steps will be taken up to complete  the structure. The Health Minister sought public co-operation to take up new schemes and also suggested that the people  needs to be attentive to make any  nay governmental schemes a success.Seeing  the pathetic condition of the building, Shri Th. Radheshyam expressed that the present structure of the will no longer be useful to the public, a new and better project may be more beneficial.

Art & culture Minister Shri L.Jayantakumar Singh said that we should feel proud for doing the best. Attending the 12thFoundation Day Celebration of Friends as Chief Guest , the Minister sais that concept of feeling proud should nopt be taken as nrgativr, it needs guts and egos for doing positive activities, he added.

 The Minister said that the state is rich in resources of different  kinds such as sports, arts & culture. The present day parents are more aware of their children talents and chose the right path for them.  He further said that sports stars are very popular in society apart from earning big incomes.

Shri Jayanta also appealed to the people of Heirok to maintain their courageous spirit, any grievavnces will de readily heard at any time ,he added. Different items like wheelchair,gas cylinder ,stoves, books and other gifts were also distributed as a part of the programme.

Education Minister Th.Radheshyam Singh presided the function while Parliamentary Secretary (H&FW) Shri. S.Subhaschandra Singh graced the function as Guest of Honour,  DC Thouball.Nabakishore Singh, Additional Director Dr. Manikanta ,elected members of Heirok and Shikhong Sekmai Nagar Panchayat were also present in the function. 6TH STATE OPEN RANKING TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP, 2017 CONCLUDES

Imphal, August 27, 2017 (DIPR): Works Minister Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh has assured to look into the appeal for repairing of the approach road to the Indoor Stadium, DM College Campus, Imphal. The Minister made the assurance today while speaking at the Closing Function of the 6th State Open Ranking Table Tennis Championship, 2017 at the Indoor Stadium, DM College Campus, Imphal.

Addressing the closing function, Minister Shri Biswajit said sports is part of education and that we get to learn many things by playing a sport including discipline.

Assuring all support and cooperation in the effort to take the sport forward in the State, the Minister also observed that the government alone couldn't bring the change. He said government needs cooperation of the public to do so.

Minister Biswajit also assured to look into appeals of the association that include repairing of the approach road to the Indoor Stadium and construction of a Table Tennis stadium. Regarding selection of site for the stadium, the Minister asked the association concerned to apprise him if there is any issue so that the concerned Minister may be consulted to settle the issues.

We need an initiative to bring any change in the society, the Minister observed and urged the people to take up the initiative.

The Minister also made an appeal to conduct a cleanliness drive in the stadium complex and its surrounding areas.

Today's closing function was also attended by DTTA, IE President Shri Mangsatabam Gojendra Singh as president and JNIMS Director Prof. Th. Bhimo Singh and MTTA President Shri H.Devshekhar Sharma (IAS retd.) as Guests of Honour.

          Minister Biswajit and the other dignitaries also handed out the prizes to the winners of the championship.

The championship, which began on August 23, 2017, was organised by the District Table Tennis Association, Imphal East under the auspices of the Manipur Table Tennis Association. (DIPR)
